I have been in Arizona for, ahem, 25 years. I hit the sweet spot. When I got here it was just large enough to have a lot of opportunity but you could drive from one end of the valley to the other in under an hour at any time of the day, cost of living was cheap-a great quality of life and great place to raise my kids.
I wouldn't come here now. It's becoming a hellscape.
