Hinckley was the name of the shooter that assailed President Reagan. That name caused the show to be retired during the season that the shooting occurred.

Unlikely, Reagan was shot the month it came out. It went on for two years afterwards.

No, it was not ended, but for a time, they changed the last name of the main character for Hinckley to Hanley.
