It’s all just reparations.

All of it.

Who’s going to be the first to say if the cops were White, they wouldn’t have been charged with murder?

This article from the Hill doesn’t tell the whole story. According to a Guardian article.

“Police across the country killed an average of more than three people a day, or nearly 100 people every month last year according to Mapping Police Violence. The non-profit research group maintains a database of reported deaths at the hands of law enforcement, including people fatally shot, beaten, restrained and Tasered.”

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jan/06/us-police-killings-record-number-2022

But the alternative is noticeably worse. While the police are far from perfect, according to the CDC, the number of emergency visit for Assault was 1.4 million during 2022. And the number of deaths for those assaults was 24,576 with the number of deaths from firearm homicides at 19,384.

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/homicide.htm

The hill just presents numbers of what happened, not why. And I would assume it is safe to say that the number would increase with the lack of supervision of police out there and the change in their methods of needed intimidation being hamstringed by the media will encourage more violence. And when that media misapplies situations like Breanna Taylor, Trevon Martin, Mike Brown, and George Floyd, it fuels the fire toward enticing more violence against everyone.

Don’t get rid of the cops, be more selective on what you hire and consider the people the cops deal with for your safety. Use a little common sense. It isn’t a cut and dry situation and has way too many grey areas that people can say is wrong, until one of the perps has a gun at their head.

And the Obama way of fixing it is to have the people involved have a beer like the Henry Gates/James Crowley incident that Gates escalated and forced the cop to a confrontation.

According to the police report, Sergeant Crowley arrived at the scene, went up to the front door, and asked Gates to step outside. Crowley explained he was investigating the report of a break-in in progress; as he did so, Gates opened the front door and said, “Why, because I’m a black man in America?”

Crowley’s report states that he believed Gates was lawfully in the residence, but that he was surprised and confused by Gates’s behavior, which included a threat that Crowley did not know who he was “messing with.” Crowley then asked Gates for a photo ID so as to verify he was the resident of the house. Gates initially refused, but then supplied his Harvard University identification card. Crowley wrote that Gates repeatedly shouted requests for his police identification. Crowley then told Gates that he was leaving his residence and that if Gates wanted to continue discussing the matter, he would speak to him outside. Gates replied, “Yeah, I’ll speak with your mama outside.”

Gates was arrested by the responding officer Sgt. James Crowley, and charged with disorderly conduct. People don’t find out these things unless they look for it. But Obama’ first inclination was displayed with his first comment:

“I don’t know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that. But I think it’s fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home, and, number three, what I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there’s a long history in this country of African Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately.”

Notice he failed to mention the vocal blast Gates gave the cop after the cop left the residence? And notice that race was the most identified within the comments? Very telling and could have incited riots. And hey are going after Trump for Jan 6? Goose/gander.

Why was this?

Because they were only trained in critical race theory and equity. Actual arrest techniques were going to be supplemental training but they needed the money for more CRT training.

The backwashing of the crime has begun. Not a single reference in this article by either the Obamas or TheHill mention the fact that the officers were black.

Give it a few weeks and half of America will think the officers were white.

“Immigration reform” means endless wide open lawless borders.

“Police reform” mean disarm and defund the cops, and force them to coddle criminals.

Ah, he can still speak after all!

I suspect this is the signal for the progressives and the “powers that be” to proceed with their final destruction of our nation. Forget any thought that the “defund the police” movement has fallen by the wayside since city, county, and state leaders have seen the light.

Oh no, indeed! They are about to double down on both the “defund the police” and “take the guns from the law-abiding citizen” policies that are the socialists and communists’ wet dream.

Govern yourself accordingly.

Michelle Obama may be getting ready to waltz into the White House. She doesn’t want the job, but she DOES want the accolades. Others can take care of the pesky details, much as is being done now. Look how much the “powers that be” have changed the definition and duties of the President over the past few years. Do you see Biden doing any of the things or taking any of the responsibilities previous Presidents have done? (Except Obama...he is in a “class” by himself).

Folks, they have slowly (and rather quickly) changed our government into one that is of dictators rather than representatives. And we are told to hush and not complain else the full force of those that rule come down on our heads.

We do need a check on qualified immunity. Scotus has conferred this privilege on LEOs, prosecutors and judges. Whatever the pros and cons of this decision, qualified immunity gives these controlling authorities the sense that they can get away with abuses without facing punishment . As a result, these people don’t always carefully consider the consequences of their action as much as other non government workers that can and will face civil litigation for negligence.
In this case, the officers probably figured they could cover things up. The problem for them was that they went too far that their qualified immunity couldn’t protect them.
Since it is likely that Scotus won’t reverse the qualified immunity privilege, another mechanism needs to be created that allows for increased transparency of legal and police procedures. If there are abuses, sanctions such as loss of job for offenders and victim restitution need to be instituted.
When controlling authorities know that the public is watching and abuses will be punished, they will pay more attention to their actions.
People will act differently when they know they are being watched.

One of the reasons I don’t hold any hope for the future of this country

The wrong path has always, always, always been chosen since 2008.

Not saying McCain was a good choice either.
