I’ve looked here on FR but not a deep dive into if VP can declassify documents or not. Mainstream media puts out a fact check to say they have ability to . I’ve put in the source URL an article from 2010 about Obama’s executive order. I do not have the patience to interpret this. Does this EO give VP’s declassify protection or not?
They just had a guy on Fox who was involved in the Watergate investigation who said VPs cannot declassify documents. Granted I only had one ear on the TV and did not get all the details.
A POTUS can delegate this authority.
The fact that the press don't say a word about this when it's a Democrat in question who took the documents when he was veep tells you all you need to know.

A VP can ONLY declassify materials that he himself PERSONALLY classified earlier. Not anything else!

Honestly, who cares? I didn’t care that Trump had docs, so I can’t and don’t care that Biden had docs. This means they can’t prosecute Trump, that’s the only reason I have any interest in the story
Other than that, it’s a distraction and Freepers shouldn’t take the bait. The real story they want us to ignore is Biden leading an invasion of the southern border. That’s treason.
He can declassify anything that he classified....just like many heads can....Comey and his “memos” are an example.
The only thing he has claimed is that he is doing exactly what his attorneys are telling him to do.
No..and besides that. He retained documents while he was senator.
The VP can look at them at the specific authorized secure place, but he CAN NOT possess them or remove them to a place of his choosing.
Then comes the issue of while he was in the senate.

Now remember....Biden can reclassify EVERY Document that has ever been declassified.
This is entirely a moot point and a strawman put out by the media to protect Biden. Even if Biden had the authority to declassify, which he probably didn’t unless he was the original classifier, the documents they are finding have not been declassified. I have read nowhere that says they were declasssified. Biden just had classified documents, including ones from when he was in the Senate, and as a senator, he had zero classification authority. Again, this is a strawman/flase flag put out by by the corrupt, leftist media.
Obama will vouch for Biden once Biden agrees not to run again.
