How about a chip in the old football accurately signifying where the ball is at all times? Asking for a friend and DUCKING!
They’ve actually contemplated this for years. The problem is the ball is big and since most of the rules involve the ball “touching the imaginary plane” it presents a bit of a challenge. Most thoughts revolve around putting 6 chips in the ball, one in each tip and for around the middle, but then you still have to figure out which one is most forward, preferably in real time. At some point it will happen. But censor tech and 3D modeling will have to get a lot better.
