“In southern Pennsylvania, the New Years tradition is sauerkraut.“

Wifey is from there. She said they had sauerkraut and pork roast. I now have her on peas, hog jowls, collards, and cornbread. She won’t go back.

Same thing: pork chops and sauer kraut...usually with mashed potatoes.

Tis a tasty meal.

But the Southern one is special...and I am a transplant.

Yes, same tradition for us. German heritage. Eating pork on NYD is to bring good luck for the year. And my grandmother always made sauerkraut with dumplings; which I tend to do every NYD I can manage it.
