Shoot I saw Ozzy Ozborne with my son because he likes the music a few years ago. I was shocked at how fantastic the show was. He had young musicians with him but even his singing was great even though he could barely talk. I guess it was just a backup track.
“I’d go to an Eagles show as well.”
In 2015 and 2017, the wife and I went to see Don Henley when he was on his solo tours.
He sounded good - and although he’s a lefty, he kept politics out of his show.
If you wanna hear a crowd scream, wait for the first chords of “Life In the Fast Lane”.
I’m hoping he goes on one more solo tour before he decides to hang it up.
Ozzy rocks. And he was always smart enough to pick great guitar players. I;ve seen him in concert at lest a dozen times and every show was awesome.
Lots of good stuff on college and independent radio.
Local WLVR does country & bluegrass, doo-wop, delta, soul, etc. shows, each curated by a DJ that’s a fan of each. New & vintage music.
WPRB & WFMU are my go-to college stations for avant-garde, indie, Bandcamp, bar bands, etc. Lots of new stuff out there.
When driving thru NJ, there’s an Indian station with peppy little numbers, and a Russian (I think) station with hard rock / power pop.
There’s a station out near central PA that plays “alt-country” - way better than the often formulaic CAT country.
Lots of Youtube channels that autoplay lists of songs of a genre you might like. Found a lot of vintage Christmas music that way.
The last concert I saw was Mannheim Steamroller. The tickets were well over $100 each and I thought I was getting the Chip Davis version of the band. Instead, it was a group of totally unrelated musicians using the Steamroller name. The musicianship was top notch but the music was so close to the recordings that they probably could have gotten away with playing one of their CDs and just pretending to play the instruments.
The Grateful Dead were one of the bands where you never knew what you would get. Every single concert has a unique setlist and they usually threw in some surprises every night, like a cover from unlikely artists as Elvis Costello or Warren Zevon. Even if they played the same song as the night before, it might be an extended 14-minute jam when the previous night it clocked in more around 6 minutes.
Wow. We’ve seen Leonid and Friends several times. It would be so cool for a member of Chicago to take the stage. Several have done so.
I’m a huge L&F fan. Everything they do is just incredible.
I feel that way about 1970s rock, which I once loved. In fact, I subscribed to YouTube because I wanted to play and store the songs.
But over the past decade, once the loony left took over, my perspective changed. I can't listen to 1970s rock anymore; the messages are too liberal left-wing.
Ironically, I use YouTube now for conservative speakers and gamers.
The show in question was at the Orleans in Vegas. We’ve seen them a couple of times as well. And yep, INCREDIBLE musicians. It breaks my heart that people have left the band.
