“I mean... Stevie Ray Vaughan is dead, and we can’t get Jon Bon Jovi in a helicopter? Come on, folks. “Get on that helicopter, Jon. Shut the ____ up and get on that helicopter! There’s a hair dresser in there. Yeah, go ahead in there, yeah yeah.” - Dennis Leary
And that saved his life.
🤣
You’d be surprised!..
There are a few dozen guys out there who make darn good livings pretending to be a ‘classic rock’ band.
The thing that bothers me is - there are a few “Bob Nelson”s who really think that people are paying money to come and see HIM…
It’s a bizarre world.
That video is super genius.
If you don't see what's fundamentally wrong with that, I can't help you!
Fripp is the real deal. His contribution on Heroes alone should enshrine him in the history of music, and that’s just scratching the surface.
It’s an interesting concept. We never question orchestras or similar for not having “original members”. So what is the concept of the band, is it about they style and continuity or is about the people. Nobody questions the validity of Sons of the Pioneers. Maurice White seems to have put in a plan to make sure Earth Wind and Fire keep going, and I sincerely hope they keep finding the right people forever on that. Since the rebirth Skynyrd has mostly kept it within the family, luckily southern families get lots of people. Can’t see The Who continuing with Pete and Roger. I’m hoping when Eric and Buck decide they’re too old they hand the keys to Richie who has been a great add to Blue Oyster Cult and seems to really get it.
Have you seen the videos of Paul DiAnno touring recently?
He’s basically doing a “Phil Collins” and sitting down while singing, doesn’t look good at all.

I saw Tedeschi-Trucks at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas 3 years ago. When I heard the first few bars from Derek Trucks, the Allman Brothers came to mind. I think Derek played with them a dozen years.
I’m sure they are all great bands, but they are derivative. There is still an aura around the artists who actually created whole new genres of music.
Yep! Right up there with their best (Exile).
you are probably right. I’ve got 20 gig of rock, jazz and blues on the hard drive and that will last me the rest of my life.
