NYSE closed
State and local government offices also closed.
I knew there would be a silver lining!..............
This was news in 1968.
Wonder if they are doing packages. I used to be a mailman but I never volunteered for the holiday over time
True though some postal workers are working, like me (scan trucks, run machines). My normal “non serves” are Fri-Sat so I had those days plus yesterday. Those with Sat-Sun are off today unless working overtime.
This ain’t unusual. Holidays get pushed to the nearest working day
Been this way for decades
I guess that Postal Pukes don’t have any Ballots to deliver.
No mo!
If I recall correctly, the Rose Parade in Pasadena will be on Monday, Jan. 2, rather than New Year’s Day, since New Year’s Day is a Sunday this time around.
I have not kept up with all the college football bowl game changes, but there too, I think the ones normally played on New Year’s Day will also be on Monday Jan. 2 this year.
When I worked (always in private industry) I was off if Christmas was on Saturday, but you were expected to report for work on the next weekday. There was no bonus, overtime pay, or pension either. Yet, it was skilled work.
The mail never stops. Yep, delivering 3 days worth of mail and packages ( Sun,Mon,Tues.) all in 1 day. should be interesting.
Being late
