This is why we kill every coyote we see on the range.
We have the big ones here, the Eastern Coyotes, that are genetically a red wolf/coyote cross. Some are as big as a German Shepard. So far all they hunt are regular prey but that can include calves and goats. Most cattle farmers here keep donkeys to keep them run off. Most goats are kept close to the house.
As you stated the proper solution is to kill them.
The trouble is the anti’s have fallen in love with predators.
The want more and more. Thinking having them around is a good thing.
Thank God for fathers. Thank God for fathers who are protective and vigilant and aware. Malachi chapter 4 ends with a warning.
Why not trap them, and send them to gated communities?
My first thought was that SloJo Biden had escaped his handlers again.
My husband used to live in a forest preserve near my dialysis center when I was still on hemo, and one night I walked out his back door to see a pack of four or five coyotes in the street and the end of his driveway near my car. I slowly backed around the corner to the house and went inside, then he walked me to my car with his shotgun. This was probably 01:00.
Pretty sure it wouldn’t have been legal for him to shoot them, even on hos property knowing Illinois laws.
I originally come from Nahant MA, a one square mile peninsula across from Boston.
Currently the coyote problem is such that
they plan to shoot and kill any agressive coyote. It’s controversial.
Wildlife getting closer to civilization and
people are befriending them, feeding them.
Youtube videos by Jim Blackwood, a retired Mountie in Nova Scotia, show him (”Raccoon Whisperer”) and his wife Angie feeding raccoons on their back porch. They “name” them—Bashful, Steven Spielberg, Buddy, etc.
They are tame and mostly unafraid of humans.
While they sometimes growl at each other
(”Hey! Be nice!”), there are no signs of rabies.
But it is a good thing to have wildlife
lured so close via feeding? You have aggressive coyotes killing pets...
Here in Beverly MA a family of foxes near the cemetery were noticed and a seal who made it into a pond (dubbed Shoebert—after the former shoe factory that’s now a commercial development) has become beloved.
One time I was in Middlebury VT in a fairly suburban section and saw a bear casually walking across the road on a Sunday afternoon. I slowed down, etc.
A Sopranos episode had a scared Carmella and A.J. get the then-estranged Tony to try
and deal with a bear that invaded their yard
(perhaps smelling bird food).
What kind of range you on, with a herd of toddlers running around? đ
Bumper sticker: Support the right to arm bears
Very high velocity hollow points are the cure.
What Are Wild Coyotes Doing in the Big City?
[Excellent for understanding urban coyote behavior, in order to counter them. It’s liberal PBS, and coyote-sympathetic, but you can still learn from it.]

Coyotes Behavior Differences Between Day and Night
[More great night hunting tips. Coyotes are extremely curious and can’t resist when they hear recorded “distressed prey” calls, other coyote calls, etc.]

Coyotes and Coy-wolves can also jump 6 foot fences which many people think will keep them away from children and pets in the back yard. Local suburban ordinances frequently limit fence heights to six feet in height to “maintain property values”, but fail to protect children. People should demand that be changed.
Usually, the purpose is to make sure zoning officials can spy on what is going on, which is why they ban walls.
A local zoning official eventually admitted this when I was quizzing him.
This video is long (46 minutes) but it is a PBS Nature episode called “Meet the Coywolf”; all about how they became a breed and where they’re showing up.
Very interesting as this happened over the last 100 years or so. “Nature,” as Jeff Goldblum says, “Finds a way.”

One lady supposedly stood up at a meeting and asked why they don’t just trap the coyotes and neuter them. A rancher told her Lady they are not raping our sheep. They are eating them.
I donât know where you live in Illinois (Iâm in N. Illinois), I live in a small municipality, it would probably be illegal for me to shoot them in the city. There are other alternatives, pepper spray, even stun guns if you have a FOID card.
There also those ballistic batons, I think they call them. I donât know if a FOID card is required for them.
