I think we will have faded by the time Christ returns, and that there will be a surveillance state on steroids in place worldwide.
What I think is of a more immediate concern is that so much material is available in digital form that people aren’t buying books, so hard copies will be harder to find. Then there is the problem of file formats changing, leaving tons of data in unreadable formats. We also have the “decolonization” movement trying to memory hole Shakespeare and other dead white authors, and then there is the politicization of textbooks leading to badly written textbooks, effort rather than results graded (leading to insanely busy box-checking students), and an odd sort of war being declared on mathematics.
There are plenty of good reasons here and now to justify collecting books of worth.
I don’t think America can be rebuilt. The people are different now and they will be more different when the end comes.
You are correct though, there will be no more free elections. 2016 got by the deamoncraps and they won’t let that happen again.

I think there will be individual repentances and even widespread ones, but I don’t see the country and Congress repenting of what they have done.
I lost all of our old history books, encyclopedias and other Americana historical artifacts in a boating accident.
I doubt that America is relevant to salvation history. It's just another nation of sinners, like every other nation. It had its day in the sun, then it declined. Many more nations might rise and fall before the End Times. We're not special.

You are censoring somebody else from reading the book you are stealing.
If that books remains in the public library, it’s going to disappear at some point and may be needed by future generation. I’d rather have that book available to them. The library can always replace it, if they are so inclined. The typical library replaces hundreds of books every year, so it’s not that big of a deal in that sense.
I agree with you that we will never see America as it was founded, but we might be able to preserve something that will parallel it in the future if we have the information that can teach us how to repeat it.
I remember listening to a guy who had more than one set of old encyclopedias. He wanted the pre-woke editions, and he said that there is information that is disappearing from the internet.
Well isn’t Woke-a-pedia part of the problem?
