The word is that Chuck HATES Buckingham Palace. After seeing a documentary on the place I can’t blame him. The private rooms are small and cramped, the phone service is buggy and the place just hasn’t been kept up. Last estimate I heard was a total refit would cost more than £300,000 and that was a decade ago.

Buckingham Palace is currently in the middle of a renovation right now, and it won’t be complete for several more years. This gives KC III a great excuse not to move in.

Thanks, good to know the old place is getting a makeover. The documentary I watched showed windows barely held in place, sticking doors, a piece of crown molding even fell to the floor while they were filming.
Charles has an office nearby that he plans on using for the day to day work of his office. Not sure what William will do. Maybe he’ll be a traditionalist and use the Palace.
The offices of William and Catherine are supposed to be at Kensington Palace.

Thanks, I see they’re stripping everything down to the bare bones. It’s a wonder that roof is still there.
Not everything; Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms. The core of it was built before the American Revolution. They have to retrofit things like plumbing and electrical upgrades. Can’t just run a 220 volt line from the basement up the back wall for the bedroom window air conditioner, can one?

I’m guessing you are missing a bunch of zeros. A coat of paint on the inside would probably run 300,000 pounds.
If true, it couldn't really be due to the fact that CPB is so jealous of the PoW that the former can't see straight.
Note to CPB: The PoW could wear one of QE2's old dresses and STILL outshine you, dearie.
