Speaking of drinking bleach, I spent some of my formative years on a rural farm in Georgia.   We lived in a primitive way for a couple of years but the first thing Dad did was get a well drilled.   Our house was near a bluff a few hundred yards from the Etowah River and the well drillers had to go very deep to get clear water.   Apparently the water was tested and found to be tainted, so the solution was to pour gallon after gallon of Clorox down the well.   For many months after that, every pitcher of Kool-Aid no matter the flavor was bleached to an odd light chartreuse green color.

Along the line of tainted drinks, my little brother was just a baby when we moved there to the farm and to this day he will not drink milk because our milk cow, Daisy, got into a patch of wild onions in the pasture and my brother never trusted milk after that.

When I think of committing armed robbery the first thought that comes into my head is “hey I should rob an engine plating shop, there’s bound to be lots of cash there” Uh huh, yep, that’s what I think. Not that most industrial customers pay via purchase order and bank transfer, just “yeah there’s lots of cash there”.

When I was a tyke, I thought everything in a cup or bottle was a drink.
Mom was doing laundry and a cup of bleach was nearby, so I drank it.

Promptly threw up and ruined her new rug. Boy, was she mad.

What broke me was a bottle of apple vinegar which I grabbed and guzzled.
It took my breathe away but my mother just belly laughed at the gagging and the soured look on my face. She knew the vinegar wasn’t going to hurt me.
She loved telling that story to her granddaughters.

Yep, you guessed it. The water tasted like crap and every sink, tub and toilet had an streaking, reddish brown rust stain. Got so bad we stated filling old gallon milk jugs for her to drink, cook with.

And I’ve heard of onion tainted milk cows.

It’s a real problem for pasture grazing dairy cows.

Probably doesn’t happen with the current industrial dairy operations.
