It is an amazing clock making video, 1000 hours condensed into 12 minutes: Beautiful Clock
That’s impressive.
Is he using Solidworks for the computer modeling?
I’ve seen a couple of Clickspring videos before but this is the best!
Thank you for posting this, FRiend...:)
I am sending this Machinist Porn to some friends of mine...:)
Just awesome. Awesome.
I don't know. I shot him a email, so maybe we'll both find out.
I use Alibre Design. Which one to you use?
WOW!
I have a friend who made his fortune in the aircraft parts business, and he sometimes works part time for the FBI to identify and locate the source of counterfeit aircraft parts. He told me it’s amazing what one guy with metalworking equipment and skills can make. This video proves him right.
Chris's videos are indeed incredible. His metal working technique is great; but, his video talent is way over the top. The detail visible is stunning.
I used Solidworks in one class in 2011.
I work in electrical distribution design, and we use Microstation and AutoCAD.
Some utility companies have us use their GIS based platforms.
There is a man who makes really small 4-cycle radial engines that actually run on gasoline. It fits atop a quarter. I’ll go see if his video quality has improved.
Played at speed X2 it only took 6 minutes...
Time is relative...
My son uses Soldworks and AutoCAD. He says Solidworks is more friendly but AutoCAD more capable.
If I did that the file would slip and scratch the part. ;-D
This filled me with a deep longing and regret that I didn’t pursue a life as a machinist.
.
I have a decade of AutoCAD and only 4 months of Solidworks, so I would take his word.
Once you have a “cell library” generated, you can knock out designs pretty fast.
We use a couple dozen symbols over and over.
Tons of work in our field.
We are undermanned and old.
I know what you mean. I have a really well equipped machine shop that was supposed to entertain me in retirement, but now I can't see much or stand for a long time. I guess I'll have to be content passing it along to some young person who would appreciate it.
"When you sit with a nice girl for two hours you think it’s only a minute, but when you sit on a hot stove for a minute you think it’s two hours. That’s relativity."
It made me think instead:
"When you sit with a nice girl for two hours you think it’s only a minute, but when you sit in front of a television with "The View" on for a minute you think it’s two hours. That’s relativity."
Sigh. Like so many things. Like so many things!
The View needs to be followed with eye wash as well.
This filled me with a deep longing and regret that I didn’t pursue a life as a machinist.
++++++++++++++++
This makes me miss my father. He was a top notch gunsmith and watchmaker. The man could make anything. No formal education. Just one amazing dude.
