They are so quick to assert cause when they see a correlation.

Agreed. I'd also suspect an infection from a fungus, mold, or something similar that causes both high-blood pressure and neuroses.

I think I made my Quack Neurotic. He says my BP is high. I say his machine is stoopid. It can’t account for the high muscle tension in my arms. His sphygmomanometer blows its top trying to collapse a blood vessel. He’s a slug and I’m in way better shape than he is. We finally agreed he’s not going to worry about my BP any more. He doesn’t have a page in his book for anyone who trained for 40 years. Sometimes jock doctors get closer to the trut since they deal with folks who are in good shape?
