Probably not going to be censored but as a boy I remember thinking it was weird the Radio Shack and other electronics catalogs listed “male” and “female” endings for connecting cables and other items.

You bring up a good point. How do we know what gender any particular connector identifies as. Maybe it’s a female with “male” attributes.
