I am 65 and had shingrix (2 shots, a few months apart), about 2 years ago.
Partly due to my younger brother DID have shingles, and it was awful. We all had chicken pox, and my son (now 38) had VERY mild chicken pox, but had it like 3 times of just a handful of blisters each time. These two issues made me think it would be good to get the vaccine.
Also my former father-in-law had a BAD case of shingles, when he was in his later 60s, and suffered a great deal of pain, was unable to get out or do much for several months.
I had no reaction issues to the shots, but a co-worker of mine at the time, did have some swelling in her arm, as well as general nausea/malaise feeling for a couple days after getting it.
Sorry, your post confuses me.
Yep
“interesting that it can lead to stroke”
Yeah, that’s certainly news to me, and a little scary to be sure.
when I saw my Dr. to verify what I hoped was not the case but turned out to be he told me shingles attacks a particular nerve group.
In my case it was from the middle of my chest, around under my left arm all the way to my backbone.
That was fall 2019 to February 2020.
Apparently the nerve damage can be permanent......I have places the virus attacked where I still have numbness......and I guess always will.
“but they may not know that the risk of stroke is elevated for a year after infection,” said Andrew Bubak, Ph.D.
A year after “INFECTION”? Shingles are OUTBREAKS. You initially get infected with Chicken Pox (Herpes Zoster) most likely in your youth. So I am not quite sure how you “VACCINATE” against something you already have. The article explains this better further in. I had a shingles outbreak in college but I was infected in Kindergarten. To me the headline reads as a fear mongering, inaccurate sales pitch from the industrial medical complex.
You are correct, but it’s possible the interviewed doctor did that to put it into more conventional terms, but it is wrong.
Technically Shingles is a new type of eruption from the same virus.
“Fauci Juice.”
Me likee!!! Gonna steal that.....wait......I just did!!! :0)
People are getting shingles after the covid fake vaxes.
Hmmm....it’s been four years since shingles on my face put me in the hospital. No strokes. Since then I’ve gotten the Shingrix vaccine. The day after the second shot I slept for 15 hours...felt like I was in the hospital again.
