But he’s not wrong about the digital thermometers. Most of them are crap. I finally found one which worked:

I now keep 2032 batteries in my medicine cabinet next to my vape pen kit. Just measure your temperature while healthy so that you have a baseline average (it rarely gives a 98.6 reading, typically measuring an average of 1-2 deg F low...the most accurate of the many I tried in this price range).

I look at them as ‘disposable’ items since they cost about $5 in WalMart. Use for a season then throw away when the battery dies..............................
