Not really, I saw it directly from below. It had a single light that was off-center, near the trailing edge. It looked like a brighter than average star, but was moving. Through binoculars I could see a distinct triangular dark shape blocking out the night sky glow.

Is that some kind of superstructure on top? It doesn't look UFO-ish.

The visit by higher-ups as to what he saw and the need to not talk about it is consistent with other UAP accounts. Many pilots just remained silent for fear of reprisals.

All of this was a massive ‘conspiracy theory’ until just a couple of years ago. Interesting how those conspiracies are proven true over time.

Were you on a ship or a military base? Many of the encounters seem to be near nuclear facilities.

Ship or military base? Nothing dramatic like that. This was in the 70’s, in my parents’ back yard. And I wasn’t the only one to see it. It’s not that it was visually spectacular, just dead silent as it went overhead that was the eerie thing. If it was some secret government aircraft, I would think it would have better places to fly over.
