"Whichever team it is, I hope the Phillies destroy them."

You sound like my father. He was a Baltimore Orioles fan, mainly because we lived in Rochester, New York, and the Rochester Red Wings were their farm team while he was alive. He hated the Yankees mainly because they won all the time. His favorite football team was the Cleveland Browns. On the weekends, after working on the NY Central Railroad all week, the TV was his.

Oh.
You come to the defense of blatant cheaters.
OK.
How/why did Dusty Baker become the Astros manager?
Why did A. J. Hinch leave?

> The Astro’s were superior last year and what happened? You should go to the restore7.org blog and read about the Braves last year.

Well let's see what happens with the rematch... oh yeah they didn't make it back to the LCS just once, the Astros have done it six times.

You mean the Yankees

How/why did Dusty Baker become the Astros manager?
Politics. Why did A. J. Hinch leave?
Politics (and the same for GM Luno).

And how do you explain the Astros winning the road games of their 2017 championship ?

Or their 2019, 2021, and (soon to be) 2022 ALCS championships ?

Cheating ?

The Astros didn’t have JV last year nor McCullers.

In my haste to defend the Astros, I neglected to acknowledge that the Astros WS losses in 19 and last year were simply due to being outplayed by a better team.

Astros fans don't make excuses for losing when their opponent earns it.

The report detailed that two months into the 2017 season,
Astros bench coach Alex Cora and a group of players
which included Carlos Beltrán worked to create a system to steal signs.

A secret zoom camera was mounted in center field,
focused on the catcher’s mitt, with a live feed to the club house,
where analysts and one or more players
would watch the live feed on a monitor, and decode the signs.
The players initially experimented with clapping, whistling, and yelling,
but determined banging a trash can with a bat was most effective.
One or two bangs corresponded to a breaking ball, and no banging indicated a fastball.
In addition to the banging method, Astros employees in the video room would also decode signs
and send information to the dugout to be relayed to runners on second base
who would relay signs to the batter.

Now, there are people who will say that sign stealing has been around
since the beginning of baseball, but, I think you have to admit,
this is quite a bit different than a base-runner at second base
seeing the catchers signs and trying to figure them out.

Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow and field manager A. J. Hinch
were suspended for the entire 2020 season for failing to prevent the rule violations.
The Astros were fined the maximum allowable $5 million and forfeited their first and second-round picks
in the 2020 and 2021 drafts.
No players were punished because they had been given immunity by MLB
in exchange for their cooperation.
The Astros subsequently fired both Luhnow and Hinch on the day their suspensions were announced.

The Braves whooped Astros butts last year.
I hope Yankees come back and whoop their butts,
if not, I hope the Phillies whoop their butts.

The Astros didn't do anything substantially different than the Yankees did in 2017, but MLB did try to cover up the details of the Yankees transgressions until being force to unseal them in 2022 and lied about what they did, or how the commissioner manipulated the violation dates to protect the Yankees and punish the Astros and Red Socks : MLB, Yankees release statements on contents of 2017 letter.

Thus the Astros=Trump, Yankees=Hillary (or any other Democrat) analogy.

Your hatred of the Astros are misplaced, you should be angry with MLB playing favorites with the Yankees, and having a former Yankee pretending to be an impartial commissioner.

So your defense is:
it was OK for the Astros to cheat,
because the Yankees cheated too?

I certainly have no respect for MLB Comissioner Manfred.
(after moving the 2021 All Star game from Atlanta to Denver)

John Hankins, owner of PitchCom Sports, thanks you for his good fortune.

I’d enjoy the Phillies destroying the Yankees more, but if it has to be Houston, so be it. The Phils are red hot right now and better yet they are having fun. That’s enjoyable to watch.
