Singer Carly Simon’s two older sisters died this week after losing their battles with cancer.
Joanna Simon died on Wednesday after a battle with thyroid cancer, one day before her 86th birthday. Her sister Lucy, 82, died on Thursday of breast cancer.
The three sisters, along with their late younger brother Peter, who died from cardiac arrest while battling cancer, were the children of Richard and Andrea Simon.
Richard Simon was the co-founder of the publishing house Simon and Schuster.
While Carly Simon was the most successful of her siblings, her older sisters both found success in their professional careers, making a mark in their respective industries.

I just heard her on the radio this week for the first time in a while. The song was “Nobody does it better.”
By the way, I’m sorry she lost her sisters. May they RIP.
That’s tough to take. So sorry for her. Love her music.
I had to go look...her net worth is $90 million.
Money does NOT save you from the heartbreaks we all have to go through in life. :(
The take-home message is that success is measured by how much money you make.
Carly Simon, as in Simon and Schuster. Money doesn’t buy everything. Very sad.
So sad. May Carly’s sisters R.I.P. I will send up a prayer for her comfort and strength.
I lost one of my sisters to cancer in 2020 and she was in her early 50s. We were very close and I still miss her every day.
RIP.
That’s a sad situation. Prayers to her and the family.
That is weird, just saw their song on FB. Maybe BECAUSE they were close to death.
Sad.
86 and 82?
How do you even prepare for such tragedy?
Can’t imagine her pain. Prayers up for her family.
“I had to go look...her net worth is $90 million.”
She was born into wealth. Her family is the Simon of Simon and Schuster, her father being the co-founder, Richard Simon.
Sorry to hear of her sisters’ passing. That is a tough blow for a family.
That is true,
Great pic of Carly and her sisters at the link.
Good looking women!
Dang- that’s rough-
A family on our street just had a daughter die from cancer- another has cancerous tumor of the brain, a son riddled with various cancers, and one son just died in a fire- The father just suffered a heart attack a few months ago- Seems like they are gettign pounded from every angle- it’s hard to watch them go through it but certainly much harder for them to go through it themselves- they just can’t seem to catch a break-
VERY SAD!!
That’s just sad.
With all due respect for the loss, at 86 and 82 years old you ought to know the parking meter is nearing the red flag popping up.
I’m significantly younger, but I certainly know where I am in the arc of life, and I am on the downward side of things. I’ve seen any number of obits of people going at my age, or even younger. Today is a vapor. Tomorrow is the breeze.
