This is a lithium leach field.

Salty brine water is pumped up from deep wells.

Then, the water is progressively evaporated off, which leaves the lithium precipitate and several other minerals.

Meanwhile, over in Newry, Maine there is literally a mountain of lithium crystals.

But a few years ago, the enviro-whackos in Maine enacted a law that allows no mine over 3 acres in size in Maine.

Too lazy to look it up but how is the precipitate refined to pure lithium - or is it? Lithium is, of course, highly reactive.
