New pop release from the sibling band ECHOSMITH, and niece / nephews of Freeper LittleBillyInfidel. Great example of mainstream pop music by homeschooled, very conservative Christian kids, previously known for triple platinum "Cool Kids". . (I don't post much, so all admonishments welcome.)

If I still lived in the D.C. area I might have gone to see the group on Oct 16 in Washington, DC @ the 9:30 Club. Enjoyed many a venue there. πŸ™‚

Not bad, good luck. BTW, your dad made the right choice, but I bet he would have been better than Sandra. πŸ™‚

Interesting... and thank you! I never think of DC being a venue town, but I’ll bet it’s hot with Georgetown!

Thank you for the Sandra comment. I really wish he would have tried. That would have been so exciting had he passed confirmation. Wish he were still here so I could ask him more questions about that. He should have, at least, met with Pres Reagan!

The 9:30 club was always an interesting place to go watch new bands perform. I once saw The Police play there before they became big. πŸ™‚

Ha ha! Thank you! I forgot about that one. Has a weird fusion 80’s vibe to it! That’s cool you know it!

I hear it occasionally in the grocery store.

I just looked it up, and found out that they moved to a bigger venue, in 1996, from the one at their original location @ 930 F Street NW, near the Ford's Theater where Lincoln was assassinated. That was where I would go. It opened in 1980, and I bet it has been 30 years, or more, since I was last there. πŸ˜‹

It wasn't a very big place. Crowd was maybe 300 max capacity, with a little stage for the band. Nice intimate place where you got very close to the bands.

It's so funny that you say that. I hear most of their work at Safeway. I'll be shopping and then say "Hey! That's Sidney's voice!!"

Those are THE best!! I'm with you 100% on that. It's a totally different vibe and they sometimes drink and mingle. Met the DEVO dudes that way.

Most of the bands definitely would come out and party with the crowd during their breaks or after their show had ended. It was a lot of fun.

This is a picture from its original location:

9:30 Club Co-Owner Seth Hurwitz's 9.5 Favorite Shows of All Time ...
Looks like maybe a punk bad playing , as there are a lot of males in that picture. πŸ˜‹ Preferred the Rockabilly bands, like the Rockats that played there

When The Police played there, they played all 3 nights, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. Those of us that were there on Friday, returned on Saturday, and Sunday. With each passing day the crowd became larger, than the night before.

This must be the new location:

Those are great memories! I used to love a good mosh, and most the dudes were cool about it, getting a good bash on but keeping it injure free. You got the best of the Police. Their sound was so pure at that time.

One night I went with this girl from work. I told her, let's have some fun. So, I started slam dancing, and management came up and told me to stop. I said, we are not slam dancing here anymore? πŸ˜‹

Anyway, still had fun even if slam dancing was no longer a thing there. seemed like that edict came down rather quickly, though I can't be sure how long it had been exactly since I had last visited the 930 club.

Good stuff! This is the kind of group we need more of.

Uplifting music is really needed today.

I hope they don’t lose their way. May they grow with God throughout their lives, and may we all meet up in Heaven.

…@ the 9:30 Club.

Ah, memories! I saw the Bad Brains, Tiny Desk Unit and a few other bands there. That was a great venue. It was also where I first tried Sambuca. The bartender recommended it.

We may have seen each other there. I was there more in the 80s than I was in the 90s. though I might have been there a few times in the 90s. But I didn't find out until this thread that they had left the original location and moved to a different location in 1996.

I never liked black licorice, so I wouldn't, and haven't, even tried an anise-flavored beverage. Whiskey & coke was my preference. But I finally gave up drinking altogether decades ago. πŸ˜‹

Thank you, Allegra! I think it’s the first one that the kids have done all on their own, without my music producer bro. He put them on every instrument on day one.
