My point is you say your pit shouldn’t be ostracized. That people SHOULD know what they are getting.
Are you blaming the parents?
Shoukd they have kniwn based in data and facts that of dogs killing people 67% have been pits?

I live in a very nice neighborhood and have never felt safe about walking around in it. Almost nobody but me is below retirement age. But now and then I see someone walking a PB, so no, it’s never going to happen.
(Yes, I carry. Yes, it’s a gun friendly state. Doesn’t make a bit of difference in this case.)

I dreaded the day when the house next door would be rented by people with a pitbull and that just happened...Ever since I was a kid I’ve had a fear of large mean dogs and nightmares...I can’t even take walks anymore which my physical therapist highly recommended.

I got a treadmill and an open window. In your shoes I'd go further: 1, buy the rental next door and evict them; 2, take your dreams more seriously.

I’ve owned, practically, all manner of dog (except toy breeds and Dachshunds). They’ve all been working dogs and I’ve never personified them or considered them as “pets.” When you get a dog, you have to familiarize yourself with the breed and its tendencies. Some people won’t let you get near their dogs because they don’t want the dogs ruined for the function for which the dogs were bred. Some people have unrealistic expectations of the animals they obtain as pets. I got my pitbull for a specific purpose (not fighting) but not as a toy! I know this dog. I know its potential and I control it much as I would a tool. Dogs are descendants of wolves and they ought to be regarded accordingly.

IMO . . . People that haven't fully developed got Pits because they're scared to death of Dobies and Shephards . . . and all they know is "Pit Bulls BAD" . . . . so they ATTEMPT to make a bad boy out of one of "Man's Best Friends", and thoroughly screw it up.

I personally know ONE Pit and OF two others and every one are loving, family dogs always around children.

The Canine is a gift from God . . . . THAT'S why a dog is man's best friend.

It's like any other friend relationship (except a dog will put up with a lot more than a human friend) . . . a reasonable amount of love and care will return an UNreasonable amount of love and devotion.
