I remember when the debate was who was better between Russell Wilson and Colin Kapernick, who both came up at about the same time.

I guess that debate's settled.

An absolute mockery and perversion to those who have scrimped and saved over the years from an honest living in my book, but perhaps I’m old fashioned.

Many people wonder how Biden got where he is. He got there because as a society, we deserve him.

NFL is an accepted outlet for a lot of gay crush behavior.

That’s a lot of money for an “old” scrambling QB.

He is probably the piece Denver has been missing to make a run at the Super Bowl.

Why do you begrudge someone else getting what they are worth on the open market? Russell Wilson possesses a skill that very few people have, and there is a value to that skill. Why should he not get paid for it? You may not think that skill is worth that kind of money, but given the revenue that NFL teams pull in, obviously it is

Thank you. Sad that self-identifying conservatives attack one of the few remaining merit-based institutions that remain.

The NFL players are paid what their value is in comparison to their peers.

Keep in mind that the career of the average NFL player is eight years. Place kickers and back up QBs tend to be longer because they do not take as many hits. Also, very few players in the league get paid these high contracts.

The NFL league makes plenty of money. Their TV contracts with the networks make the league very profitable. Those TV contracts are also spread EQUALLY between all the teams in the league. Making it easier for more teams to be competitive.

This is totally different from Major League Baseball. Where the team (the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Cubs, Braves) own the rights to their broadcasts and have much more revenue to spend on players than a team like Cleveland or Milwaukee.
Obviously, the MLB also has a lot more games to bring in this revenue. The Red Sox for example have three players making over $17 million/year. This makes it very difficult for teams like Pittsburgh to compete in MLB. That is why fans love it when Tampa goes to the World Series when they are in a division against the Yankees, Red Sox and Blue Jays.

I consider myself old fashioned but I don't see it the same way you do. An NFL team would not offer that kind of money to a player if they weren't sure he would sell a lot of tickets for them and get them deep into the playoffs each year (where there is enormous revenue opportunity for an NFL team).

Scrimping and saving while making an honest living is indeed honorable but it silly to presume that we are somehow dishonored because a few highly skilled athletes can go out there and make millions.

I say good for them. But I was hoping the NFL would take a financial hit for their overall "woke" behavior and their disrespect of our flag, our anthem and such. I thought maybe a lot of us patriots would turn the football off and do something else with our time. But I guess I was wrong. Many people have decided to watch their football in spite of all that and it is because of them that NFL teams can continue to pay out those kind of salaries.

Once players started kneeling at the National Anthem the NFL became dead to me. I haven't watched a millisecond of NFL coverage since early 2020.
