...The first is someone who lives in an urban area and need something to just go a few miles everyday.

Most urban vehicle owners couldn't own an electric vehicle. They live in apartments and park on the street (with a few parking in garages). Plugging in the vehicle overnight on the street would be a logistics nightmare.

Yeah. My son and his partner live in an appartment just a couple of blocks off broadway in Capital Hill in Seattle. But they DO have an indoor stall.

But you’re right. Until they come up with some practical charging infrastructure it’s not an option. So that leaves them to one group: Rich people who want a novelty car.
