Who was Joanne Robinson? Mom-of-two, 43, MAULED to death by her pet XL Bully Joanne Robinson was killed at home by her pet dog named 'Rocco' after she returned from a night out (Facebook/Dillion Robinson and YappApp)

A mother-of-two, Joanne Robinson, was mauled to death by her pet American Bully XL dog while her partner was left with life-changing injuries that have been pictured. She is understood to have been pinned down by the jaws of the pet, named Rocco, after coming home from a night out. Jamie Stead, 42, suffered devastating injuries to his face, hands, and chest as he tried to pull the animal away from her and is still recovering in hospital. He has reportedly undergone skin grafting for the potentially life-changing injuries.

Joanne's heartbroken mum, Dotty Robinson, told The Sun, “I am in total disbelief and shock. I just hope it was quick and that she didn’t suffer too much.” She added, “I want everyone to know how well-loved she was. She was born and bred in this village. They all know her and love her.” Joanne was earlier described as a "beautiful angel" by her friends in tributes left near her home in West Melton, near Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Pictures of the tragic animal owner have now been released following the fatal attack as police in Rotherham took the dogs away.

Dotty urged dog owners to be extra vigilant of their pets during the UK’s blistering heatwave. She pleaded, “Try to keep your dogs cool. Keep them inside and give them plenty of water. The heat affects them too.” Dotty told how Rocco - who was nearly two and his two-year-old mate, Bully XL Lola - were both destroyed this morning. Speaking about the family’s horrendous ordeal, the gran of nine, supported by other members, told how her daughter and partner had had the dogs since puppies. She said, “They were good dogs, they are not a banned breed and were not dangerous. They were not related but they got on well together. I don’t know why they suddenly snapped. I can only think they turned mad in the extreme heat. It must have set them off."

“Rocco’s a big dog, he’s bigger than a lion.” Her tearful granddaughter added, “He was like a small horse.” Also a mother of three, Dotty re-emphasized, “It must have been the heat. There’s a saying about mad dogs going out in the midday sun.” Reliving the horror, she told how her daughter has been to visit a friend and had walked back into the house about 10 pm. She explained, “She was downstairs and suddenly Rocco attacked her, it got her, I think it was around the throat." “Lola was going mad, she was trying to be protective and Steady, Joanne’s partner but we call him her husband, tried to save her. He was trying to get Lola out of the room, he had no choice but to get her out and during that time Rocco attacked.”

A sea of cards, flowers, and balloons adorned the home where the couple has lived for twenty years - including a poignant one from Joanne’s grown-up children Elle, 24, and Dillon, 19, saying “Mum I love and miss you.” Neighbors had told how they had heard piercing screams coming from the top of the road. Dottie continued “I’m hoping it was quick. I can’t bear to think of her suffering. I think she was grabbed around the throat but we haven’t had the results of the post-mortem yet. They are due today. There’s rumors and gossip going around that Joanne was attacked while she was in bed asleep. That is all rubbish. Rocco carried out the attack not Lola but both dogs were seized by police.” Emergency crews raced to the scene but it was sadly too late to save her and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Genetics. My Rat Terriers need no training to deal with rodents. They are fast and efficient. Indoors, they are high spirited on their feet and snuggle bugs when it's time to settle down.

I was raking leaves in the backyard of my 2nd house in Pocatello when a Pit puppy (100 lbs) entered my yard. He was playful but too "mouthy". I was able to keep him entertained until animal control arrived to cart him off. He was able to leap 6 ft fences like they weren't even there.

Most of Chet’s posts were useful and interesting although he could be a little too obsessive, but FR had a sizable pro-pitbull cheering section that were very hard nosed and rabid with the defense of the dogs so it could get nasty.

Well, they do say people own breeds who are like them.

women are being “woke” by owning “sweet pitties”.

I think many of the women with pitties have a lot in common with women who date and marry repeat hardcore repeat felons

“Focus on the CAPABILITIES.”

You said it well. In my own way, I came to the same conclusion. One of the good things about domestic cats is that they are small. They are not always the nicest critters, but they are small and can only do so much damage.

I read an article about a guy who studied lions and joined a pride. Well, it’s kind of cool that he could play with lions and sleep alongside them. You have to wonder if anyone would sell him life insurance if they knew his hobby.

As for these pits, they are dangerous due to their size and massive jaws. From what I read on this thread they are even more dangerous because they have been bred to fight to the death.

I had a house cat who ate brown recluse spiders for breakfast. In fact, she would eat one any time of the day. She had a cat’s instinct for hunting and had a funny way of chomp, chomp, chomping them before swallowing.

By way of explanation, we rented a house for a year, only to discover after moving in that there was a major spider problem. It was a good sign when traps caught scorpions, Normally, it’s the spiders who kill scorpions. Only when the spiders are away, do the scorpions get to play.

Timothy Treadwell would tell you not to try it with grizzly bears, except that he can’t, because they ate him. On the other hand, Canadian field biologist Farley Mowat associated with a family of Arctic wolves and it worked out OK. (The book Never Cry Wolf was 1000x better than the piece-of-crap movie.)

As they teach in every service academy and military war college, never focus on the intent. Focus on the CAPABILITIES.

We have an 8YO Rotten Shepherd (more Rott than Shep), a 95 pound bundle of love. She's very gentle around the grandkids, though they've been taught how to treat her (i.e. no shots to the nose, or grabbing her ears).

My grandson's now 11, and when they're playing with a rope, she'll drag him all around the house. He knows her capabilities.

When I rough house with her, she'll growl and bare her teeth, over the years she's nicked me more than a few times. However, she seems to know when she's gone too far, and backs off.

Having said that, there is NO WAY I'd leave her alone with a child. I know her capabilities...all it takes is one innocent smack to her nose, or any other trigger.

Very tragic.

The older I get, the smaller the dog. Pretty soon I will have to find a micro dog.

The fate of the XL dogs is their own treachery and dishonesty. It should not equate to murder but that is what the dogs do.
