A song 50 years ahead of its time. Amazing band!!!
Love the Kinks
Excellent animation.
I was always a Beatles fan but the Who, Stones, Kinks and Yardbirds were amazing in their own right - the latter the most technically talented group from the British wave.
60 years ahead of its time. I think the Beatles had a song with similar sentiments back in 1969. Maybe the Brits were onto something.
“Love the Kinks”
ABSOLUTELY - one of my 3 favorites. The other two are Supertramp and person I’d rather not disclose as it would threaten my reputation as a conservative here.
and the Animals...
Outstanding!
Counter culture rock.
Excellent!
Of course, if our side cancelled rockers for similar reasons, probably only 2% would pass our purity tests. That wouldn't leave much for us to listen to!
Let the left make asses of themselves.
I had a violin teacher named Lola, she was numbered in germany while at camp during ww2
Prescient song.
Poor kids don't know what it's like to bomb around in a muscle car and hear a DJ say, for example, here are the Doors with their new single: “Light My Fire.” Or this:
The Animals was a damn fine pop/rock/blues band.
Their cover of “House of the Rising Sun” was a masterpiece in performance by Eric Burden...and even today that voice & organ is hypnotic - absolutely amazing!!!
I’m a little confused by the lyrics:
Well, I’m not the world’s most masculine man
But I know what I am and I’m glad I’m a man
And so is Lola
Does “And so is Lola” mean (a) Lola is also a man or (b) Lola is also glad I’m a man.
The brit scene...
I dug American music and American performers. Power rock was cool, early Mersey beat, Zep... the later stuff, Deep Purp and Cream with offshoots... but those cheeky groups who were keen on being hip... nah... no thanks.
The Beatles?
Not really into them.
Ringo seems like a regluar bloke.
Saw Ray Davies about 15 years ago at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. Notwithstanding the fact the backing band was just ok, it was still a good show. He played a solid 2 hours, not including a 20 minute break. Of course, at 2 hours, he had to skip some really good Kinks songs. Davies was a total ham, he loved being onstage and cutting up in front the audience. And of course he played Lola.
Okay you little gen Z shit, the song says a man has a penis and a woman has a vagina.
