Mark this down as the year's most grotesquely insensitive metaphor.
On Friday's Morning Joe—hours after the news broke that former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had been assassinated with shots to the back—Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson, in a scathing statement about Boris Johnson, said:
"He sort of failed up, upward through his career until he became Prime Minister after knifing Theresa May in the back."

Liberals like Eugene Robinson hate conservatives so much that they’re not even aware, or don’t care, about making a grotesquely inappropriate remarks like this just hours after Shinzo Abe was assassinated with a shot to the back.

Eugene Robinson - the Poster Child of Affirmative Action - talk about failing up. In a just world, Robinson would be editing the classified ads section of a local newspaper.
He never got tested by fire, that’s what happens with affirmative action some of the time, they just skate their career like barbara walters. Truman skated into the vice presidency the same way...one needs to earn his way to become good at their job.
I prepared the transcript for the article [governs=Finkelstein], and was struck by how often he would repeat a word or short phrase. Rarely got a sentence out without repeating himself.
