Though not considered "beautiful", Bob Jone's Greenville, SC is starting down the same path.
Asheville ran the old Honda Hoot motorcycle rally out of town many years ago. Asheville was a beautiful place for riding motorcycles and had some cool mountain tops on which to take refuge from the summer heat. The rally got too big due mostly to the location there in Asheville.
