The Monthly Fiber Arts Thread is a monthly gathering of people that love yarn and fabric of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first project, to experienced fiber artists and beyond, we would love to hear from you.

It is impossible to hijack the Monthly Fiber Arts Thread. Knitting, crochet, quilting, weaving, general crafting - there is no telling where it will go, and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! Send a Private Message to Diana in Wisconsin if you'd like to be added to our Fiber Arts Ping List.

NOTE: This is a once a Month Ping List. We do post to the thread during the month. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest to Fiber Arts fans are welcomed any time!

Good morning. I have been sewing lately! Cute PJs, which are a set of shorts and V-neck top for the 5 year old GD. Also a cute 4th of July dress with matching shorts and a hairbow for her. Another dress just finished. I need to review the 2 dresses and PJs, still.

Made this for the older sister: https://sewing.patternreview.com/review/pattern/182808

I am working on a 2nd version, as she has a couple trips yet this summer for “events”.

I have been forced to go through some of my supplies and fabric stash (looking to save a trip here and there to get a zipper or whatever), and have discovered a few pieces in the fabric stash that I didn’t remember, and have a loose plan for at least a few more garments for school clothes for the girls.

I knew you were very busy - hope you had a great holiday weekend! Back to ‘regular’ old summer until Labor Day. :-)

Trying to get 3 significant garden projects done (heat & humidity are making it hard to work outside) so I can get going on finishing my county fair project - deadline is July 30. It is two strips of hairpin lace woven together with a crochet border on each side. I put the project aside in 2019 - going to take a while to figure out exactly where I was (looks like most of the border on the 2nd side needs doing) & how to do the “woven” crochet stitch again. At least I can work on it in AC, unlike the garden work!

Thank you for a pleasant respite from the “news”.

Plus I usually steal your graphics and send them to friends.

Love the picture! When my kids were little, I had a toolbox with a combination lock with all my stuff, sewing scissors, scotch tape, glue, a pen, tape measure, stapler, screwdriver, etc. That helped alot.

Yep. My boys had ‘their stuff’ and I had ‘my stuff’ and they never touched it - even in a crafting emergency, LOL!

They also knew to NEVER take my ‘Aldi Quarter’ that I kept in the car for a shopping cart, no matter HOW BAD they wanted to play games at the arcade.

You gotta raise ‘em up right! ;)

Me: “Don’t touch MY stuff. Even if you THINK it’s YOUR stuff, it’s not. Until you pay your own way in this world and are still living under MY roof, it’s ALL MY STUFF!”

Love, Mom :)

Thanks for the reminder to get busy on my Fair Stuff! I have until the end of August, but that’s going to come really, REALLY quick now that the ball is rolling!

I have two more wide rows of various colors on my crocheted afghan ‘Four Seasons in the Driftless’ and I’m also doing photography and canning, so I need to read the fair manual so I do those new entries up right.

Beau took an AWESOME shot of some white birch trees against a gorgeous blue sky a few years back when he was elk hunting in CO, and I am going to ‘secretly’ enter that one for him this season. ;)

Hi all, I saw this new thread Diana and was reminded I have missed posting anything on the last 3 garden threads so I will catch up shortly on that. As far as fiber stuff I don't do much in the warm months. I did crochet a garlic bag from cotton yarn and used it on half my first row of garlic. I had saved a skinny onion bag so I used that too. I have enough yarn to make 2 more garlic sleeves, started one yesterday. Still have a longer row of garlic to dig. Also made a patriotic dollhouse quilt 1" to 1' to sell. And yesterday I finally got around to a craft project I had the materials for a couple of years. Foam ring, and one yard each of the 3 colors. Cut the stars out of one of those foam sheets. I used pins to secure the material but to be on the safe side and not wanting to use hot glue on the fabric, I used some pieces or gorilla tape on the back to make sure none of the pins come out. That's about it for fiber stuff. Hope everyone is having a great summer. 0-02-01-5aa9fdf0ec74a8ea0a361d2802f77874ac35f90f2785bcf0c32f08345bbc3b2a-da8285c13f68cc5c 0-02-01-36fcb62fb0572dfc19c142d7887a123d600b26f1f36c3b0166e95f9f2dcfdb1d-f8e8224407dfa73f 0-02-01-c6f29191146729c1f30bde1f6205497049c54f9c3d9b8071a9ea43778c178d41-1a640529e2df12cb 0-02-01-e94fcaa75359be5d935b8fe1c96b974e9f23facd3fddd6c7535cce00a34c1da6-1f8cff592f2584f

I’m working on an English Paper Piecing (quilting) project called Smitten. It was a Block of the Month for 2021 and I’m behind! Each block is actually a pieced Hexie and I’m currently trying to piece together all the hexie blocks I’ve made so far.

This morning I took a private garment sewing class, I know basic construction but I wanted to learn to sew knits because I wear more knit clothing than woven. Plus I purchased a cover stitch machine recently so learning how to use the machine as well. I had a simple T-shirt dress with a little swing to it already cut out and that is what I worked on today.

I’ve never learned to post photos on FR so if anyone can point me to a tute I’ll post project photos.

LOVE the flag wreath and your miniature quilts are always so pretty!

Great job on the garlic. Mine is ready to harvest any day now, too. I pulled one yesterday, ‘just to see’ but I’m going to let the leaves die back a bit more for now, then harvest.

Help!

I just link my photos directly from FB. Let Schmuckerberg pay for the bandwidth! ;)
