A vegan mother has been found guilty of murder for the death of her 18-month-old son who weighed just 17lbs when he died in 2019 after a short life being fed only fruit, vegetables and breastmilk.
Sheila O'Leary, 39, was convicted of a jury in Cape Coral, Florida, on Tuesday after a week-long trial.
She is now facing life behind bars and will be sentenced on July 25. Her son Ezra died in 2019 from complications caused by malnutrition.
Doctors found he hadn't been fed for a week by the time he died in September 2019.
Sheila and her husband, who has also been charged with murder and is waiting trial, called 911 after Ezra stopped breathing.
Paramedics pronounced the toddler dead at the scene. They also examined the couple's older three children.
The pair were charged in December 2019 after Ezra's cause of death was revealed.
No photographs have ever been released showing what state the child was in when he died.
But prosecutors at Sheila's trial described an emaciated child who constantly cried.
'She chose to disregard his cries. She didn’t need a scale to see his bones.
'She didn’t need a scale to hear his cry,' Assistant State Attorney Sara Miller said.

He didn’t die from only eating raw fruits and vegetables. He died because he hadn’t been fed for a week.
Yep. Eating an adequate amount of fruit, vegetables, and breast milk will nourish a child so it can live. Not thrive, but live.
This child was fed an inadequate amount of these things.
All vegans and the whole whacko vegan movement share her guilt.

I think human digestion and nutritional needs are most like dogs and bears - not like the great apes.

My eldest son was 8 lbs. at birth and 33 lbs. at a year old (born 2 weeks early)
My second child was 5 lbs. at birth and 32 lbs. at a year old (born 2 months premature).
My third child was 7 lbs. at birth and 34 lbs. at a year old (born 3 weeks early).
I made sure my babies ate as much as they wanted, whenever they wanted. They are all smart, strong, solidly built, and enjoy eating a variety of foods.
This creature starved that poor baby to death.
Execute her.
I saw the results of that, when a local vegetarian woman's dog collapsed in the street and could not get up. I can't stand animal abuse, and it really got to me. She was, of course, convinced that she was helping the dog by starving him.
The one we had went out of business after only 2 years. I kinda liked it.

I’ve heard stories of these idiots trying to feed cats a vegetarian diet. Cats are obligate carnivores and will die in short order if not given a solid diet of meat.
Lifestyle over reality tends not to work.

The staff is great and the grilled meats never miss to hit the spot. I prefer my steak rare, as well. :)
Wednesday is the day they give a discount to veterans; my beloved makes sure we go there every Wednesday.
I prefer to be there when they open to avoid crowds.......
Human physiology doesn’t work well on only fruits and vegetables, especially raw. A healthy person, even a child can live a lot longer than a week without eating. Unfortunately that boy lacked a regular diet of essential amino acids that are very difficult to get on a vegetarian diet. Even what nutrients that were in his food he couldn’t get to without cooking to break it down.
Our ancestors learned to cook their food to get the most possible nutrition from it. Earlier than that they learned to break bones with rocks to get the richest marrow. These things fueled the development of our modern brains and bodies. There is evidence our ancestors were hyper-carnivores deriving the majority of the calories and nutrition from meat. Vegetarians and vegan are fools thinking they can undo a million years of evolutionary development with their ideology.

It's one thing when adults do this to themselves, another when it is foisted on a child or animal.
My own experiments in college with strange diets came to an abrupt end when I let myself notice that I was starving, and treated myself to a prime rib dinner. My body informed me that the meat was exactly what I needed. That ended the strange diet. A friend who was on a different strange diet wound up in the hospital with malnutrition. He got the point, and that ended that.
