For me personally, REVOLVER was the Beatles best, most innovative album in terms of range of musical styles, diverse sounds, and lyrical content.
It contained some of the most unforgettable songs like:
Eleanor Rigby
Here, There and Everywhere
For No One
and the satirical song which is still applicable to Democrats : TAXMAN
Yep, ‘Revolver’ was maybe the Beatles best album. The song ‘Paperback Writer’ was recorded during the ‘Revolver’ sessions but was released as a single. In those days songs released as singles before the album came out were typically not allowed on albums by a lot of the UK record companies. ‘Strawberry Fields’ and ‘Penny Lane’ were intended by The Beatles to be on ‘Sgt. Pepper’, but the record company released them as singles so they were left off the album.
I pretty much agree. I was a huge Beatles fan when I was younger. Listened to their albums constantly during college in the 70's. I don't listen to them as much now. I don't listen to the "yeah, yeah, yeah!" stuff at all. My favorite period is 1965-1967. I like Rubber Soul, Revolver & Sgt. Pepper and the singles that came during that period like We Can Work it Out, Day Tripper, Paperback Writer, Rain, Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane.
“Revolver” is my favorite Beatles album too. After I swiped my parents’ copy a few times to play on my “kid” record player, they gave it to me and bought a new album for themselves.
