The first and most enduring award for LGBTQIA+ books is the Stonewall Book Awards, sponsored by the American Library Association's Rainbow Round Table (formerly the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table).

Even if you homeschool, you've got to play "gatekeeper" on every front, reading material is no exception, and the American Library Association is NOT your friend.
Society's ghouls know the prize value of young minds. As you shop for your young scholars, be aware of boilerplate crowing about what awards books have received. Of special note is the Stonewall Book Award-Mike Morgan and Larry Romans Children’s and Young Adult Literature Award " for exceptional merit relating to the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender experience."

The ALA has truly lost their way; these awards are nowhere near the same league as, say, the Newbery or the Caldecott. I’d even become suspicious of books given those awards in more recent years, but this... this is entirely something else.
