I knew it would be a blockbuster when I left the theatre. “ Now you’re in the Navy “ Penny tells Maverick when she kicks her ocean racer into 5th gear in heavy chop and a considerable rolling swell - he’s clearly scared shitless. Best line of the movie.

Loved the tribute to the late Sam Shepard “The Right Stuff” scene too.

You just know this is going to be a damn good movie when he steals the SR71 to set a speed record.

Tough to see the failing Val Kilmer - really tough. He’s one some great movies too.
