Well, I am a Detroiter, and grew up with Dominos as one of many choices. It’s tasty and convenient. Some folks in the area used to call it
“Catholic Pizza”, because the original owner, Tom Monaghan often donated to local Catholic schools and was against abortion.
Other wise, I think the writer could have used a good editor. In his second paragraph, he describes when someone made pizza, saying the dough was “LATHERED in garlic oil”.
The term he probably meant was SLATHERED.
Maybe they put soap in the garlic oil?
I deliver for Domino’s back in the ‘80s and their piece of sucked. But then I moved to a small town where was the only decent option available about 10 years ago and I ordered one one day and I was shocked at how delicious it was turns out they completely changed their menu.
I lived in Ann Arbor just after Monaghan started Domino’s there. You could pick up the phone, call them, and have a pizza at your door in 15 minutes. It revolutionized beer parties.
Or maybe it was edited—by an editor unfamiliar with “slathered”.
