I always joke that my cat is the ultimate “Domestic Goddess”, there is no way she would ever set foot outside even if you left every door and window open.
Oh get off your high horse. We're talking about cats here, not border security.............Sheesh!
Stay on topic dude, there are other threads about illegals you can cream on........
All of my cats have been indoor cats. As for relatives in the country, they rely on barn cats to keep varmints under control.
“Kudzu is limited by geographic location”
It was native to China and Japan. The Pacific ocean didn’t seem to be a problem to do any “limiting”.
My previous cat, Squeek, wouldn't go off the deck but would peer down into the garden thru the railing uprights and pounce on voles or baby rabbits that were hiding down below then bring them into the house.
I was able to release one of the baby rabbits but one died. As for the vole, I saw her sitting outside the bathroom, just staring in. Knowing something was up, I went in and found the vole hiding in the corner behind the toilet. So I picked it up and let it go outside.........LOL!
It was brought here deliberately in the late 1800s.
Then keep it down south where it belongs. We don’t need it here in Michigan........Round Up seems to work on weeds.
True, with boats and planes and humans, natural geographical limits can easily be bypassed.
No worries; it wouldn’t grow and survive very well in Michigan.
I’ve always wanted to try growing it on my balcony. Where we live, it wouldn’t survive, but might make a nice shade/ornament in Summer.
Anybody with a lick of sense who has ever encountered a cat knows that they are destined to rule the world. As long as we are good servants they might deign to tolerate us.
You mean Democrats from New York State?
Thank you! They are big cats, Zander is 21.5 lbs and very muscular. He has been up to 22 lbs but mainly he holds his weight. He loves to be on top of me so UGH but he is such a lover as NFO’s (Norwegian Forest) cats are known to be. Many describe them as very dog-like.
He has very thick fur. Not so much close to the skin but just overall. It goes along with the mackerel tabby coloring as they tend to have more coarse dense coats. Trillion is a very rare, even in Europe rare, black smoke. Silver and smokes tend to have soft mink-like fur. Invidia (means Envy in Italian) is tortie with white and also has a soft coat although very thick. Same with Trillion, very thick fur, but he is just starting to grow his coat. He will not be mature with full ruff and coat for another 5 years.
Wow, how lucky for you to have that wonderful cat for 19.5 years! I have never been quite that lucky as of yet. My last Forests lived to 15 and 16 years. I had three and my last to live and first NFO was 16. Incredible cat!
I have had many rescues over the years but never a feral. That is so interesting that she never lost that wild nature. But genetics definitely plays a big part in temperament. That is one of many reasons at this point in my life I will only have Norwegians. They are absolutely incredible animals and really if you have never lived with one it can’t be explained.
Please feel free to message me and I’ll gladly give you my email. I’m very happy when the time comes to help you in finding a really reputable breeder if you still want to find a Norwegian Forest cat.
Do you remember someone on FR long ago used to post beautiful cat threads? Would be nice to do that again and share our photos and love of cats. I love cats so much I can’t even find the words. :)
We’ve got three cats, I’ve had cats around all my life. They are not “worse, most dangerous, most destructive invasive species” except to those who go out of their way to run down a cat, etc. And anyway, what is coming across the border is.
I think our dog runs off any other cats. He‘s free range but deeply bonded to us. Perfect farm dog.
I live in a neighborhood where everyone (mostly) controls their dogs and let there precious fur ball cats run amuck.
I’m a bird lover (former watcher) and these natural born killers hunt birds They also kill squirrels, lizards, rabbits and anything else weaker than them. I almost swear I saw my ex-neighbors cat carrying a dead puppy back to his yard.
What cat lovers don’t understand when they say things like “it’s nature” or “it’s predator-prey” is it’s NOT natural and it’s NOT normal predator-prey relationships. In a natural environment only a few cats per square X of area could be supported as weak ones would starve, get killed by bigger predators and disease. They would exist in a balanced connection.
What is the situation now? We have an unnaturally high number of feline predators that hunt for fun then go home for protection, food, even medical care. It’s almost a guaranteed situation to wipe out our natural medium sized animal life, In our unnatural environment there are no real controls on cat numbers.

“But then what do we feed the Filipinos to? “
Send them to Sri Lanka???
Oh God, here we go again! Last time the world declared war on cats the Black Death took hold and swept through Asia and Europe. The “cat invasion” was completed almost 500 years ago and the damage has already been done and the world is just fine with them if not better off.
This is the first moment that I’ve heard of the “air potato vine”, if that really is its name.
Now I can add it to the list of reasons I don’t want to live in Florida again. Once was enough, and just like San Antonio, TX, the Air Force sent me there.
Question: What keeps Florida from falling off the CONUS and sinking into the ocean?
Answer: Florida sux.
Number one on the list is invasive sand in everything, including a sandwich.
Plus the feral chickens, pythons, and iguanas.
Your Correct,
Hence the ‘sarc’-—/$
.
But cat juggling is
My true calling!
