Rich Strike pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Kentucky Derby history with a win on Saturday.

Rich Strike was an 80-1 shot coming into the event, according to the odds on the Kentucky Derby website.

Did The Donald endorse Rich Strike? He's had a pretty good run of bringing longshots home.

Rich Strike paid $163.60 to win, $74.20 to place and $29.40 to show.

Epicenter paid $7.40 to place and $5.20 to show.

Zandon paid $5.60 to show.

The $2 exacta paid $4,101.20.

The $1 trifecta paid $14,870.70.

The $1 superfecta, with fourth-place finisher Simplification joining the top three, paid $321,500.10.

On another thread before the race I had indicated I liked Taiba over Messier for the win. When it came time to bet, I bet both.
Then I had a thought: that with such a big field and so many horses coming in a close second in previous races to the favorites today, a Long Shot may win. I looked over the long shots and SUMMARILY dismissed Rich Strike as not having a chance. Instead placed $2 bets on 11-Pioneer of Medina and 18-Tawny Port.

Great handicapper I turned out to be. If I just put $2 bets on the highest 4 long shots I would have walked away with 140 bucks.

I guess I will keep my day job.
