Every person I know that was recruited and went to Amazon disliked it. I met with some of their AWS execs once, I was not really impressed by the Seattle office, or the whole experience.

but I like the long clock idea, I am pretty sure in 9700 years what ever inhabits the earth will wonder what happens when the clock ends.
