The slap was a mistake. Of course, there can be differences of opinion (I suppose) and people could say it was justified or else it was a mistake. Whatever.

But people like Schumer seem traumatized -- traumatized -- by a slap that someone else experienced.

Such extreme sensitivity in a an adult is distressing. This should not be psychologically crippling to anyone. Except, perhaps, Will Smith, who may have ruined his career and feel consumed with regret. But Schumer has no reason to be psychologically crippled.

I agree with all you say and also will say that the slap was rude but not an assault, or crime, or something against the law. Has there been any mention of bruises to Rock’s face?
