The Missouri took part in Desert Storm, so yes.
They most certainly did get her off...she was only stuck high and dry for about two weeks, but when you read the book, it seemed like a month and a half!
Point is, there was a LOT of frenetic activity, because it was in full view of a busy highway, near the biggest naval base in our country, involved one of the most fabled and largest capital ships, and it was a major blunder.
Lot’s of people scurrying around!!!!! But they did get her off.
