Because when you post, there is html built into the fields for both the content of the article and your first comment. You have to add additional code or the link won't be a link.
Or something like that.

They only come up as links AFTER the first post. They would be clickable if they were in #2 or any after. If you want clickable links in the first response/post, you have to use HTML.
