My sister also had a clot to brain. She is a horse owner and does lots of rides in the beautiful places around the country. One day she noticed a red ring around a circular rash on the surface of her skin. It was the result of the dreaded Lyme Disease. The infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system. In the case of the heart, it can cause irregular contractions that create blood cavitations that promotes blood clots. Yikes!

Regarding the blood clot, my wife had one in 2005 and it took her a long time to bounce back. Her neurologist said it was caused by a rupture in a arteriovenous malformation that was congenital. Her sister died of the same condition several years later. She was found lying on the tiles of the sun porch off of her kitchen and never regained consciousness.
The worst part of my wife's condition was not being to play the piano for such a long time. She appears to be fine now, but she says that she has never felt like she is 100% over it and never will be.
