Uh yeah... For most of my long life I’ve had no trust in govt. Anyone would be stupid as hell to trust them at this point.
It’s sad that so many are only starting to distrust government when it finally seems to be doing something harmful to them personally.
The real time to begin to distrust government is when people are wanting to grow it so it can do things claimed to be beneficial for ordinary individuals, when it wants to be the entity taking care of your neighbor rather than you looking after your neighbor.
Ultimately the so-called “progressives” are like a through the looking glass version of Scrooge who with others creates posh social services (compared to those of actual Victorian GB) and then decide that humanity is once again the look out of paid professionals rather than something he is personally responsible for.
