I’m a veteran and I’ve taken something of a disliking to hearing people saying to me. My attitude on it changed after the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan last year; it’s particularly galling when you hear someone say “thank you for your service” and you know that they’re one of those people who vote democrat. It’s like a lot of those people are saying it for their own benefit, not so much for mine or other veterans.
