Mom-of-four spends Valentine's Day delivering hundreds of bouquets of flowers and bottles of wine to 'forgotten' widows after raising over $22,000 in donations

Spending Valentine's Day alone after losing a loved one can be hard - which is why a North Carolina woman is dedicating her Valentine's Day to delivering hundreds of flowers to widows.

Ashley Manning, a florist from Charlotte, won't be celebrating the day of love by having a romantic date night with her husband, but will instead be offering comfort to those who no longer have a husband with whom to celebrate.

With the help of 300 volunteers and thousands of donations, the mother-of-four plans to deliver more than 400 bouquets to women who will be without their significant other today to make the holiday just a bit sweeter.

'This is a really beautiful way to celebrate love on this day to the people in our community,' she told Fox News.

'I think that [widows] are a population that’s sometimes forgotten.'

Ashley, who owns a local flower shop called Pretty Things by A.E. Manning, started her 'Valentine’s Day Widow Outreach' last year.

She shared her idea on Instagram and it instantly became a hit. She told Good Morning America that she received hundreds of dollars in donations and the names of dozens of women who had been nominated by others to receive flowers, all in a matter of hours.

At first, her goal was to deliver around 25 bouquets, but she ended up raising $6,000 and delivering 121 in total - and this year her goal has tripled.

Ashley has estimated that she's spent $14,000 on flowers alone, with each arrangement having between 30 and 35 stems.

She was able to cover the costs through donations, fundraiser events, and help from local businesses - and now, she has raised over $22,000 for this year's drive.

With each bouquet of flowers, she also plans to include a gift bag, which has

That’s a very nice concept for a non profit business.
When she gets more volunteers to help her, maybe she would consider also giving something to men aka widowers.

My Mom died at 53 due to diabetes, but my Dad outlived her, last until age 84. He never re-married. He would have pretended not to care at first, but he would have appreciated a BRIEF visit and kind word on Valentines Day.

You are going to have to be consistent.

Either men are happier without wives and having no women around anywhere or they should be consoled by women.

Which is it?

Where did I ask for men to be consoled by wimmin?

I am just pointing out the consistency of gynosociety. And the fact men of all vroups and strata are invisible and disposable to gynosociety.

In your post complaining that nothing was being done for the men who did not have wives.

You have to be consistent.

You preach that women should stay away from men and men from women.

And then you complain when a woman does something for woman, staying away from men.

You would have undoubtedly complained if she had included widowers and accused her of trying to entrap them and lure them away from their blissful women free lifestyle.

I think you just like to complain.

I don't care. I am just pointing it out.

Your post shows you don’t understand anything. Thank you for illustrating it better than I can.

I already explained it once. You disregarded it. Won’t do it again. Waste of time.
