“progressive willing to weaken free speech norms”
It’s part of obtaining power.
There is a very, very dim light going off in Ben Burgis’s head.
Its a start, anyway.
The problem with dealing with liberals when it comes to “truth” is they don’t believe truth is absolute....truth in their warped minds is whatever they want or need it to be at any given moment to support their argument.....always a moving target, which is one more indication that liberalism is a mental disorder.
Also, giving in to them should never be an option as it only emboldens them to push harder.
The left wants to ban all “misinformation”.
But in the same breath they don’t want to talk about all the things Fauci’s Nazis said that were factually incorrect and therefore “misinformation”.
Remember the addage: “One man’s poison is another man’s meat.”
This was born in the 1800’s, way before anybody thought “being offended was a way of life”.
In fact, it was accepted that if somebody said anything offensive within earshot of anotther being, the offending seaker was either demanded to say it to the offended’s face, and then be judged worthy of a broken nose, orlaughed at in their face, and walk off.
Now, would that not stop a lot of this whiney-butthurt, no balls crap going on today?
I had no idea who Rogan was, but after reading this guy’s article I’d never listen to Rogan. Wouldn’t ban him, though.
I’m sure that Fauci can go on to Rogan’s show for a 2 hour segment and correct this “misinformation” if he wants to.
This person argues the right answer for all the wrong reasons.
Mainstream liberals have increasingly adopted the right-wing libertarian view that “free speech” only applies to actions carried out by the state, and that private businesses are free to censor as they please.

This only works in a non-fascist country. Once big corporations and big government are pieces of the same monstrosity running the country, you have corporatism or fascism.
Exhibit A: The CDC does what Pfizer wants.
Spotify is not standing up to the cancellation crowd out of a sense of free speech. They are doing it for business reasons. They have a contract with Rogan and Rogan brings them lots of money and subscribers. Not once has the CEO defended Rogan using the argument of open discourse. Not once has the CEO argued that “misinformation” is a matter of perspective. Not once has the CEO argued that they shouldn’t treat their audience like a bunch of impressionable children.
We just ordered that old book When Pigs Can Fly, for our grandkids! Old book from 1980s.

A self proclaimed Socialist trying to justify his existence at Yahoo! Waste of time reading that crap.

“should think long and hard about how this movie is likely to end”
They do. And when they do they picture a leftist utopia where all dissent is rounded up and silences.
I had heard so much about this Joe Rogan, so I tried listening to “The Joe Rogan Experience”. A half dozen f-bombs in the first five minutes and no substance. No more for me.
I was listening to Rogan and Jordan Peterson last night (on a long and rainy drive). Rogan has some unusual ideas, and he does not like Trump at all. Do libs realize this? They would love his ideas on Trump if they listened.
Do libs even listen to what they love to denigrate?
Rogan has also said that Michele Obama would be a great candidate in 2024 and that she would win. Another wild idea.
I like free thinkers.....that’s what Rogan is, whether we agree or not. Libs don’t like to think.
