I'm surprised MS has taken this long to establish or acquire a PC gaming line. Activision Blizzard is of interest to me because one of the original PC gaming software companies, Sierra On-Line, was (eventually) merged with Activision Blizzard in 2008. Activision was one of the original developers for the Atari 2600 console. The Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo franchises were developed by Blizzard.

They did that ages ago when they acquired Bungie to get the Halo franchise. But then they focused them on the Xbox mainly.
