Wouldn’t it be nice if ending all these legislative cutouts, loopholes, and gimmicks were part of one party’s legislative agenda? I don’t care which one, but one of them...

Somehow, all the politicians who get elected to end these types of legislative cutouts and “get money out of politics” end up getting real quiet on the subject after their first campaign.

Like Newt’s Contract — only provision in it that would have made any real difference was term limits and that one was quietly killed. The other window dressing provisions all got passed real quick... one that would have modified the game? Nah....

Even as the next election approaches the GOP still has NO AGENDA. All they have is “vote for us because we’re not Democrats”.

I call it Potomac Fever. It burns their braincells so much that they become mainstream. Only a few manage to avoid it.

And that rubbing elbows with real power is seductive.
