I have 3 different accounts on NextDoor. I troll the shit out of them very subtly.
I get banned occasionally for a few days, a month. I know how to make new accounts.

I am on Nextdoor. It seemed interesting/promising when it first appeared years ago - local, community-based, alternate information
It has quickly become unbearable. They seem to censor so much. I actually find people debating on threads to be quite calm and reasonable, but entire threads just disappear whenever there is controversy. They also seem more and more strict on discussions with particular business names. I suppose they are threatened if negative reviews/news is posted. Only whining woke Karens are now allowed.
I believe, just like in China, these USA social media are politically controlled. Not to the same degree, of course, but the “deep state” makes sure accepted oligarchs are in charge, and that all sites know how to censor themselves.
I just remembered - I think what REALLY ticked them all off was my comment about trannies.
To the petty tyrant who wanted us banned, I ended my tirade at him asking if this “science” would be the same science that tells us there are more than 2 sexes and that anyone can change to anything (or sex) they want!
ND is run by Liberals in the Bay Area. You just have to be very subtle about trolling them. It can be a good source of very local, neighborhood info.
Oh sure, but as I would complain on ND - you’re just listening to your own echo chamber.
And that’s EXACTLY what I’d say to these ninnies - you’re not interested in “discussion” - you want an echo chamber of liberals only.
What good does that do?
It reinforces your biases and doesn’t put a question in any opponent’s mind.
I’m here on FR mostly for the echo and support. But I’m not really going to change anyone’s mind if we’re already sympatico. What’s the point?
How did they get you real name and address? So we don’t make the same mistake?
Just criticize current LE policy and practices enough and they will come. They have Blue Line connections.
The funny thing is this cattiness shows up for every topic.
It shows how not so “neighborly” people are.
I actually WAS a monitor for as while. Phoenix is not as bad as Maryland, and the crime info is useful.
As a moderator, I was very much a live and let live type, even letting diarrhea-mouthed lefty have his say as long as he didn’t drop f-bombs or make personal attacks.
Eventually, I figured it wasn’t worth the effort and dropped off. I also dropped LinkedIn. FR is my only social media outlet now.

there may be one person that is not a trust fund baby or one that actually voted Republican or one that voted DJT. But all the rest sound like hard core lefties.
They didn’t. “Loose lips sink ships”, my fault, even as careful as I am, I shared too much here because I have nothing to hide. Just enough for someone with hurt feelings to use my posts to “get an idea” and use their connections to come fishing and investigate further.
I think misinformation only applies to people who tell the truth.
I canceled it, too. Nothing but Fauci-worshipping elderly schoolgirls (some of them male) forming progressive cliques and ganging up on the out groups. And this in a very conservative town - so NextDoor might be the schoolgirls’ primary social outlet.
I was right.
For criticizing LE. Apparently that is now probable cause to some.
I am sure that FR is monitored by a lot of LEOs. Most are just here because they are part of the community and love FR. I was one, the last 12 years of my career I was enjoying FR and posting every day from a fed-gov office computer.
I figured since it was a gov computer they were watching but nobody ever said anything. I was always carful before I hit post to make sure that what I was about to say would not come back to bight me.
I still live by that rule to this day because they are still watching.

Thank you for sharing that. And I understand, I have only myself to blame. I have been visited by the feds also, and had my domain hacked by the DOD and the NIC at the request of McCain because I hurt his feelings on Twitter.
What bothers me about the local LE visits is that I know it was because I offended someone here with my criticisms of current LE policy and practices. So they personally went out of their way to research my posts here, put 2&2 together, and then use their connections in LE to chase me down.
Using “privileged resources” like this just because you had your feelings hurt in a forum is just wrong. Would you agree?
